"The Perfect Pose" by Myka Meier
Author of Modern Etiquette Made Easy
We’ve returned with etiquette expert Myka Meier for our second “Lessons in Grace.”
As we find ourselves in the middle of awards season, it’s fitting that Myka would show us how to own the red carpet (or any photo, really) with a little inspiration from Grace Kelly herself, who was the picture of elegance in any photograph.
Read on for some style revelations of your very own:
“Most of Hollywood knows how to master a red carpet pose, but Grace Kelly had a particularly elegant stature, and she knew her angles well. Her signature pose is timeless and tasteful, just as she was. ”
We couldn’t have said it better.
Here are Myka’s tips on mastering Grace Kelly’s signature red carpet pose:
To master this, just do the following:
Step 1.
Gently hold one wrist with your other hand. Fingers remain closed together and pointed downward. If you have an evening bag or clutch, hold the wrist of the hand that is carrying the bag.
Step 2.
While standing tall with good posture, slowly move one foot back behind the other so you are leaning mostly on your back leg. Remember to do this step slowly and gracefully.
Step 3.
Graciously smile, slowly moving your eye line and head toward the direction of the camera(s). Chin remains parallel to the floor.
And voilà—You’ll be amazed at how “Grace-ful” you look in any photos, on or off the red carpet.
Stay tuned for future "Lessons in Grace" with Myka Meier.
